Phaka Lumduan, Thailand

The band of Pong Lang “Phaka Lumduan” is the folk pong lang band from Sisaket Rajabhat University in Sisaket province. Pong lang band traditionally comprises regional folk musical instruments and is typically folk band in only Northeastern region.

The performance of this band reflects the ways of life of E-sarn people who live in this area. The strength of this band is playing folk musical instruments in the varied rhythm by high skilled musicians with experienced dancers and therefore the band becomes the most famous pong lang band of Thailand.

“Phaka Lumduan” is established by Assistant professor   Kanok Thosurat as the chancellor of Sisaket Rajabhat University. This band is conducted by Dr.Cherdsak Chaithawil. The overall achievement between year 2005 to 2006, was driven by the University’s mission.The name of this band formerly “Folk Band of Sisaket Rajabhat University

Not only this band has been joined  annually Cultural Exchange Program (folklore performance exchange) with
Siem Reap Teachers College of Dramatic Arts, Cambodia until now but also the dance troupe participated in several international festivals abroad such as International Folklore Festival in People’s Republic of China and in Malaysia. Besides, 
“Phaka Lumduan” has been gained popularity domestically by joining the competition in the popular television program of channel 9 which broadcasts nationwide. Moreover, from 2012- 2017, the bandachieved continually many categorized awards from the competitions for the trophy H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn every year. Likewise, the dance troupe had a chance to promote Sisaket tourism by performing in the festival of Melodorum Futicosum Lour Flower 2017 in Sisaket province.
