Born in 1987, Micachu studied classical music from age four, having a specialist music school education she then studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.


     In her third year one of her choral pieces was performed by the BBC singers and as part of a young composers scheme she had a piece commissioned by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which was performed in the Royal Festival Hall.
     Aside from composition Micachu makes hip-hop orientated mixtapes which have featured artists such as The XX, Ghostpoet, DELS, The Invisible, Speech Debelle…
     Micachu&The Shapes is Marc Pell, Raisa K and Micachu. Formed in 2008, they toured worldwide promoting this project and collaborated with the London Sinfonietta to create a performance called 'Chopped & Screwed' based on the psychadelic Southern hip-hop style of slowing music down. 
     Over the last year or so Micachu: 
     Curated part of the Spitalfields Music Festival;
     Has been collaborating on a mixtape with Kwes (Warp Records);
     Has been working with Pete Wareham of Acoustic Ladyland on an amen break project;
     Wrote two pieces for the harmonic series at Southbank Centre.
     Composed the music for 'Under The Skin', a new film by Jonathan Glazer.
