Avant-garde Calligraphy by the Zen’ei Gang of Five

Studio Tho co-operates with Hue Festival Center to display Avant-garde Calligraphy by the Zen’ei Gang of Five from June 3rd, 2008 toJune 11th, 2008 at 5 Ha Noi Str., Hue City.

On display are 30 calligraphic brushworks in Sino-Nom scripts by TRAN Trong Duong, LE Quoc Viet, NGUYEN Duc Dung, NGUYEN Quang Thang and PHAM Van Tuan.

Medium: Chinese ink on xuan paper and silk mounted scrolls

Content of Calligraphy: A part of the writing is created from the ideas of Nom poems by Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Du, Nguyen Binh, Ho Xuan Huong… and from songs of Trinh Cong Son - with citations on love and human destiny. Others are pure artistic expressions in calligraphic methods but without semantic meanings - close to abstract and non-figurative art.
