Italian Artistic Expression at Hue Festival

Italy’s participation in the Hué Festival 2008 adds to the cultural vivacity with world-known refinement. Italy embodies not only thousands of years of history but also projects modernity with its creativity. While developing, Italy has never lost its unique protean identity and its artistic dynamism evolving from its wealth of cultural experience in multiple fields.

Events organized by the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam on the occasion of the Hué Festival include various types of artistic expression such as music and photography, all accompanied by Italian food presented by Mediterraneo di Hué.

Davide Mancini, a young singer and songwriter, introduces his latest album “Madame Gerbelle”. Songs in Italian and French with original sounds emanating from the union of international acoustic sonorities are all included in his production. This globetrotter musician’s record, dedicated to a traditional healer from his mountain village near Aosta, met with success in Italy. After Ireland, France, Germany and Spain, Mancini is now spreading his talent beyond European frontiers.

Throughout the Festival, on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Venice is the subject of a sensitive photo exhibition by the artists Daniele Dainelli and Nguyen Viet Thanh. This city of echoes from the past resounds with all its elements, from architecture to gondole boats, from canals to its people. An example of folklore and tradition, Venice’s eternal emotive athmosphere is revealed by the photographers, both trying, in different ways, to grasp its true soul. Venice, is where cultural heritage means past, present and future.
