The Memorial Stele of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan

Mrs. Loan died post-nataly on February 10, 1901, after giving birth to her fourth child, Nguyen Sinh Xin. She died at the age of thirty-three after reserving her life to care for her husband and children.

The boat brings her to the “last home” quietly, much like her life. She was buried in the West of Ban Hill (called Tam Tang), four kilometres distance from Hue city to the South. In 1922, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (Uncle Ho’s sister) while still being under surveillance, tried to bring her mother’s remains to Kim Lien. The emulate of Mrs. Loan was reburied. Although there is no physical remains of Mrs. Loan in Hue, there is still one memorial stele in her symbolic burial site in Hue. Although her remains were posthumously brought to her native land, after twenty years of living in Hue city, her soul is ingrained in this land.
