Thien Mu Pagoda

Thien Mu Pagoda (Pagoda of Heavenly Lady) is located about 5km from Hue center to the West, on a sloping pine hill with the front side facing the Huong River. The pagoda was firstly built in 1601. Under Nguyen Hoang’s reign, the pagoda has experienced many restorations. The major buildings of the pagoda are Dai Hung temple, Huong Nguyen temple, Phuoc Duyen tower, and Dai Hong Chung - the enormous bell. The Phuoc Duyen tower is a 21-metre-high tower of seven storeys, each dedicated to a Buddha. The enormous bell weighs over two tons and is 2.5m in height. Preserved in this pagoda are a lot of precious antiquities of previous centuries. Thien Mu Pagoda is worthy of being one of the most beautiful ancient pagodas in the whole country.
