Imperial Dances

Based on the dances performed at the court of North Vietnam in the early 17th century, the imperial dances evoke traditional legends: stories of combats, phoenixes and unicorns, but also ceremonial dances and formal greetings performed for the Emperor. Officially founded by Emperor Minh Mang in 1820 and comprising about thirty dancers, the Traditional Arts Company of Hue perpetuates this tradition with fervour.
